Why San Antonio owners hire a consultant
San Antonio's housing ranges from 1920s homes in Monte Vista and Alamo Heights to new subdivisions past Loop 1604. That range produces big, confusing plumbing decisions: repipe or repair, reroute a slab leak or tunnel, tank or tankless on hard Edwards Aquifer water. When the company giving the advice also sells the job, it's hard to know what's really needed.
An independent consultant removes that conflict. We review the problem, the evidence and the bid, then tell you what's needed and what it should cost. You hire any licensed plumber you like to do the work.
Common reasons to call
- A five-figure repipe, sewer or slab-leak quote you're not sure about (second opinions)
- Buying an older home and wanting a plumbing-only look during the option period (home assessments)
- Planning a remodel or custom home (remodel consulting)
- Opening a restaurant and facing grease interceptor requirements (grease and backflow compliance)
- General contractors who need a takeoff or bid leveling on bid day
What it costs
Consulting is billed as a flat fee or a fixed fee written before work starts. As a planning guide, quote reviews start around $195, on-site home assessments run a few hundred dollars, and commercial takeoffs and bid leveling are priced per bid package. See packages or build a planning range with the Scope & Fee Builder.
How to check any plumber's license
Texas plumbers are licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Ask for the license number on any proposal and verify it at tsbpe.texas.gov. Our Quote Checker flags a missing license number as a red flag.
