Plumbing Second Opinions & Quote Reviews

Before you sign, get an advisor with nothing to sell.

Quick answerA plumbing second opinion is an independent review of a contractor's diagnosis and quote by a licensed master plumber who will not do the work. We check whether the repair is needed, whether the scope matches the problem, and whether the price is in line with Central Texas norms. Most reviews take 48 hours and cost far less than the money they protect.
48-hour written review $195–$450 per quote review Independent · no installs

A $14,000 repipe quote, a 'your sewer line has collapsed' video, a slab leak that 'has to be fixed today': these are the moments homeowners make expensive decisions under pressure. Contractors are not usually dishonest, but the person diagnosing the problem is also the person selling the fix, and that is a conflict no one can fully escape.

Sasquatch Plumbing Consultant does not install anything. We read the quote, watch the camera footage, look at the photos or the property, and tell you plainly: is this needed, is the scope right, is the price fair, and what should the bid say that it doesn't? You walk away knowing exactly what to ask for and what to pay.

When to call us

  • A quote feels high, or two bids are thousands of dollars apart
  • You were told a repair is an emergency and must be approved today
  • A sewer camera inspection says 'full replacement' and you want it verified
  • The bid is a single line like 'repipe house: $12,500' with no scope
  • You're being upsold a water treatment system or tankless unit after a simple call
  • A previous repair failed and you're not sure who's right

What we do

  • Line-by-line review of the quote against the actual problem
  • Review of photos, video and sewer camera footage you send us
  • Price check against current Central Texas market ranges
  • Red-flag check: permit, license number, warranty, deposit and change-order terms
  • A list of questions to ask the contractor before you sign
  • Optional on-site verification when the photos can't tell the story

What you get

Written second-opinion summary with a clear verdict
Fair-price range for your scope of work
Scope corrections and missing items to add to the bid
30-minute review call

What drives the fee

  • Number of bids to compare
  • Whether sewer camera footage needs review
  • Remote review vs. on-site verification
  • Size and complexity of the proposed project

Second Opinions FAQ

Do I need to tell my plumber I'm getting a second opinion?

No. You can send us the quote, photos and video yourself. Many good contractors welcome a second opinion because it builds trust in their bid.

Can you review a quote without coming to the house?

Usually, yes. Most quote reviews are done remotely from the written bid, photos and any camera footage. If the evidence doesn't support a conclusion either way, we'll recommend a short site visit rather than guess.

What if you agree with the original quote?

Then you get peace of mind in writing. Roughly speaking, a review that confirms a fair bid is as valuable as one that catches a bad one: you can sign without second-guessing.

Will you recommend a plumber?

We can share the qualities and license checks to look for and help you level competing bids, but we don't take referral fees from contractors. That's what keeps the advice independent.
